Carolina Wren and Philadelphia Vireo

I came across a foraging flock of passerines off of otter cliff road. Among the many Parulas, Redstarts, and Red-eyed Vireos i found yet another Philadelphia Vireo! This is my third individual in about a week. Also of note, a Carolina Wren came out to investigate after i started pishing.
I believe Carolina Wren is a fairly uncommon bird on the island.
Birding on MDI is just too fun!

I captured these lousy documentation shots of the Philadelphia Vireo and Carolina Wren. I also included a shot of one of the Red-eyed Vireos for comparison to the Philadelphia.

Shorebirds at the head of the island

I spent another couple hours today searching for shorebirds, this time at Hadley Point and Thompson Island.
Despite suitable habitat, Hadley Point produced ZERO shorebirds. I was there about 2 hours before low tide. Lots of people were roaming around along the beach, and i'm guessing this may have been the reason why there were no shorebirds.

Next i visited Thompson island. Despite seeing hundreds of gulls out beyond the picnic tables, again no shorebirds. I then went to the other side of the island (where the visitor center is) and walked down to the water (it's a steep descent down from the road to the water, so please be careful if you attempt it). From here i found 2 Greater Yellowlegs, 2 Short-billed Dowitchers, 3 Semipalmated Sandpipers, and 14 Semipalmated Plovers. There were also numerous common terns and Bonaparte's Gulls.
The shorebirds were too distant for digiscoping, but i did get some nice shots of Bonaparte's Gulls today.

Shorebirds on MDI

I discovered the two Whimbrels at the end of the Wonderland Trail (in Acadia National Park) during low tide. They were off to the left foraging along the rocks.
The Solitary Sandpiper was feeding along the second impoundment at the MDI highschool.
